It matters that we have a right understanding of who we
\nare\u00a0<\/span><\/b>because of whose we are.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus…And because you are\u00a0sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His son into your hearts, crying out, \u2018Abba, Father!\u2019\u00a0 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son,
\nthen an heir\u00a0of God through Christ.\u201d
\n<\/i>Galatians 3:26<\/a>; 4:6-7<\/a> NKJV<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus was not a servant who aspired to be a son, He is the Son who chose to serve.\u00a0 Jesus was not a servant working His way up the ladder.\u00a0 In the incarnation, Jesus is fully God.\u00a0 Pre-existent, eternal, the one by whom and for whom all things were created.\u00a0 He is the King of Glory. Which makes it all the more remarkable that He chose to be a servant.\u00a0 He was not in a position of weakness trying to earn the Father\u2019s favour, it was already His.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The implications for us are liberating.\u00a0 He has decreed that all who follow Jesus in faith are also sons (& daughters), children of the most high.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have to earn that position, we couldn\u2019t if we tried.\u00a0 Our hearts have been indwelled with the same Spirit that was in Christ.\u00a0 Therefore, His Spirit within cries out in all accuracy and honesty, ABBA, Father.\u00a0 It is the spirit of man that draws back in unworthy self-loathing, it is the Spirit of God that says, \u201cNO, you are a son (you are a daughter)!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The change was brought about by God\u2019s initiative not our own.\u00a0 It is not simply an act of false humility to resist our inheritance, it is unbelief.\u00a0 On the cross the price was paid and issue settled.\u00a0 \u201cFor you are all sons (and daughters) of God through faith in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That changes everything – if we let it! No need to try an earn the Father\u2019s love\u00a0 <\/span>– it is ours unconditionally – all we have to do is love God and do all we can to protect that love.<\/span><\/p>\n
