God’s Home Among Humans

2 Samuel 7:11-16

This passage about God’s establishment and protection of the Davidic kingdom was picked up for various purposes in the first-century world, perhaps most strikingly by the early Christians who applied it to Jesus. David’s impulse that God should have a grand house was right, but God had bigger plans than David had imagined. By coming in the person of Jesus, God made clear that the grand house of his dwelling is creation itself. God makes human beings in such a way that it will be appropriate for him to come himself in the person of his son and be a human among humans. This is the hope revealed at Advent.   N.T. What will you find at Christmas?

This Christmas you will find what you’re looking for!
It goes with out saying that
“If you are searching for nothing – you’ll find nothing.”

This Christmas, let us pay attention to the coming of Christ and the respond to the implications of His miraculous birth, His Spirit filled life, and His life giving death and resurrection.

This Christmas God wants to give you three Christmas gifts that you’ll find if you seek them. Because as I said whatever you’re looking for is what you’ll find.
You Can Find Forgiveness
“Today your Saviour was born… He is Christ, the Lord.” (Luke 2:11 NCV)

The Christmas You Can Find Peace of Mind
Those who love your teachings till find true peace. (Ps. 119:165 NCV)

You Can Find Eternal Life
“The man who finds life will find it through trusting God.” (Rom. 1:17 TLB)

Let this Christmas be the most memorable of your life –for all the right reasons! Search for life – life in Christ.

Have a blessed Christmas   – Rev Mark Dewar

Preparing for the season

Can you believe it’s that time of year again? Every year it seems that the holiday season sneaks up on us. It feels like we quickly move from our ‘dry season’ to hot and humid.  But, with the change of season is a sure sign that the holidays are underway. This past year has been full of monumental moments that have marked us and moved us forward in great faith and growing thankfulness. But, the truth is that sometimes the holiday season is a time that makes it hard to ignore the loss, loneliness, and lament in our life. It’s a present wrapped with a mix of experiences, emotions, and traditions. So, as we approach let me share some thoughts to help prepare our hearts and homes for everything that the holiday season brings.

I absolutely love the holiday season and getting to spend so much quality time with my family, not to mention the amazing food! This season is such a full season — full of joy, full of people, and full of perspective of what’s really important in life. With this comes the temptation to become overwhelmed by the fullness—a full schedule, a full house, and maybe even a full stomach (if we’re being real!) In the hustle and bustle, I find that the cure for the sometimes impending stress is the very reason we get together in the first place — thankfulness. Continue reading “Preparing for the season”

Christmas Prayer for CCUC

FATHER how is it that we come to look upon the babe in the manger at this time of the year? At Christmas, the day set aside so we can remember that YOU, JESUS, stepped down out of eternity, took off YOUR royal robes of YOUR glory, also laying aside YOUR divine powers. Coming as a helpless baby, completely powerless, completely vulnerable. Fully reliant on Mary and Joseph for everything, YOUR complete care and survival. But YOU came to live the same life that we live. FATHER as we come into Christmas day, LORD awaken in us the wonder and awe that the Shepherds had when the angels told them about the saviour being born and how they came to look upon this child to see the SPOTLESS LAMB OF GOD laying in the manger – a feed trough.
