Hope is not a feeling.

On God’s side

Abraham Lincoln famously said, “My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side.”

Right after the American Civil War, the most brutal and divisive war in American history, the winning side was clearly tempted to triumphalism.
