The science behind walking in courage

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” – George Addair

What is standing between you and your dreams? For most of us the answer is simple. Fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear that questions, “Am I enough? Do I have what it takes? Will I fail?”

The problem with dreams is that they usually lie on the other side of the unknown. If there is one quality each of us need to step into this year to see dreams fulfilled and to see breakthrough like we’ve always wanted to see, it’s COURAGE.

But how do you walk in courage when facing overwhelming odds? I have good news for you – the source isn’t you. True courage doesn’t come from your own inner grit and determination. You don’t have to muscle it up or charge forward with your eyes clenched tight in terror.

Courage comes from the presence of the Lord.
He is with you.

Keys to overcoming fear

[A blog by Leif Hetland 3rd June 2023]

Without doubt, the greatest hindrance to our ability to step into our destiny is fear. Fear, which is rooted in unbelief, holds us back from the purposes of God. Unbelief thrives in a heart that is not in alignment with God’s nature, purpose, power, and presence. Because of this, every believer must confront unbelief and come face to face with fear. There is no way around it. To step into freedom, we need to deal with unbelief and fear—first within us and then around us.

Thankfully, our heavenly Father has given us everything we need to defeat fear (2 Tim. 1:7). These three gifts—power, love, and a sound mind—are the keys to saying no to fear in our lives.

1. The first key to overcoming fear is learning to walk in the power of God. When we face overwhelming circumstances, we can respond to them in one of three ways—we can run from them, we can ignore them, or we can face them. The first two options are rooted in fear. The third option, facing our circumstances, is the choice to step into God’s gift of power in our lives.  Continue reading “Keys to overcoming fear”

TASTER – 40 Days of Hope and Renewal

As you know the condition of our heart and our mindsets have an enormous impact on our capacity to ‘live abundantly’. The season we live in is impacting our hearts, our minds, our well-being.  In response to our predicament, Garry Hardingham, one of our leaders has produced a daily devotional titled,            “40 Days of Hope and Renewal”

There is a link to this series on our Facebook page and Website. We are happy to print and copy the series for you week by week if you want it. Personally I am including it in my daily devotions.  I’ve included for you, as a taster, excerpts from   Day 1– Laying the Foundation

The Bible has quite a lot to say about hope.
Biblical hope has as its foundation faith in God. The word hope in English often conveys doubt. For instance, “I hope the Aussies beat the poms again” In addition, the word hope is often followed by the word so. This is the answer that some may give when asked if they think that they will go to heaven when they die. They say, “I hope so.”

However, that is not the meaning of the words usually translated “hope” in the Bible.  Continue reading “TASTER – 40 Days of Hope and Renewal”

Letting Go!

In India, farmers had problems with monkeys stealing their crops so they designed a trap to catch them. They would tie a coconut to the side of a tree, cut a small hole inside the coconut and place a banana within the hole. When a monkey would smell the banana, it would stick its hand inside the hole to grab the fruit, but the hole was too small to let the monkey get both its hand and the banana out. Unwilling to let go of the banana, the monkey would stay in the same spot until it got caught.

In the same way, we can sometimes refuse to let go of things that are not good for us.
Here are four things that are not worth holding onto:  Continue reading “Letting Go!”

Problems are not our enemy

David in his battle with Goliath showed up and ran forward into the battle. Running forward takes a great deal of courage. If showing up to the battle is the first step of courage, running toward our giant is the second. Fear is one reason we we fail to engage in the battles that need to be fought.

Another reason why many of us lack the courage we need to run forward is our lack of perspective. We see the presence of problems in our lives as a negative. We allow them to discourage us and get in the way of our victories. That is exactly what the enemy intends. He wants to distract us from our destiny through these giants. Often, they are the reason why people don’t reach the fulfilment of their lifelong passions. Continue reading “Problems are not our enemy”
