Do you love life?
I am not asking if you love God, but something different. Do you truly love to be alive? Peter lets us know that there is a pathway to “loving life.” Jesus also said that He came to give us abundant life, not just eternal life.
The Greek word for abundant in John 10:10 is “perissos” which means “superabundant (in quantity) or superior (in quality); excessive; advantage; exceedingly; very highly; and beyond measure.” If we combine any of these words with “life,” we realize we have been promised something wonderful for living now.
One main way to grow in loving life is to focus on working with God instead of for God. Continue reading “Do you love life? “
Bringing life to dead places
Let the weak say…. “I am strong”. Joel 3:10
God has called us to make dead things alive. In Ezekiel 37, the prophet was asked if the dry bones could live. In the dialogue and events that followed, God showed Ezekiel and His people a powerful principle that is vital for us today.
God’s method of bringing life to these very dry bones was through Ezekiel prophesying “life” to the whole situation. Ezekiel had to speak to the bones. He had to prophesy to the wind. As he did, things changed and life came. Continue reading “Bringing life to dead places”
Assigned by God
The Bible frequently speaks of the responsibilities given to those who follow Jesus. But there is one assignment given that is so large, so all encompassing, that every other commission aligns its purpose to the fulfilment of that one. Perhaps we could call the other assignments sub-points to one major point. Each commission is vital and important because it serves the greater purpose. And the fulfilment is the realisation of God’s dream through the cooperation of those made in His image. God’s dream includes our redemption but it is as big as ‘may it be on earth as it is in heaven’.

Salvation about more than heaven
We serve a God who does all things well. Everything He made was “good”. That includes you and me! Salvation is not just about gaining freedom from the past, to live well in the present and prepare for the future. It is also about the recovery of our primary identity.
