Empowering Our Future with Mind Renewal – Part 1

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
The renewing of the mind can happen both in the positive and negative. Obviously, Romans 12:2 is about positive mind renewal, but the reality is that when we give our inner agreement (our “amen”) to a belief, mind renewal takes place and it impacts our future experiences.

I used to only “renew my mind” with my feelings and experiences.

  • I felt weak, so I renewed my mind with the belief I was weak.
  • I struggled to have heart connections with people; therefore, I renewed my mind with the lie I did not do relationships well.
  • I used to think that certain geographical areas were hard for the gospel, so I renewed my mind with that belief and created an even more difficult experience for myself.

I would passively agree with these feelings and experiences, regularly concluding they were the truth. Each agreement would strengthen the negative stronghold in my mind, and my future would be negatively transformed by these beliefs. Letting Go!

In India, farmers had problems with monkeys stealing their crops so they designed a trap to catch them. They would tie a coconut to the side of a tree, cut a small hole inside the coconut and place a banana within the hole. When a monkey would smell the banana, it would stick its hand inside the hole to grab the fruit, but the hole was too small to let the monkey get both its hand and the banana out. Unwilling to let go of the banana, the monkey would stay in the same spot until it got caught.

In the same way, we can sometimes refuse to let go of things that are not good for us.
Here are four things that are not worth holding onto:  Continue reading “Letting Go!”

The power of our conclusions

Our conclusions about circumstances are almost always more important than the circumstances themselves. Consider the story of the twelve spies in Numbers 13 and 14. The spies were commissioned to give a report to Moses and the children of Israel concerning the land God had promised to them. After forty days, they came back to Moses and were divided into two groups: 1) Joshua and Caleb, and 2) the other ten spies. Both saw the same set of circumstances but put a different conclusion to what they saw. Many factors contribute to how we make conclusions. Some of them are:

  • Whether we have the habit of magnifying the Lord or magnifying the problem (Psalm 34:3)
  • Whether we have been renewing our minds on spiritual faith food or worldly doubt food (Romans 12:2)
  • Whether we believe God has equipped us to be victorious or has not really promised that (Deuteronomy 28)
  • Whether we believe that opposition to our promises is normal or not  (1Timothy 1:18)

True You

Before you were conceived in your mother’s womb you were a thought in the heart of Papa God, according to Jeremiah 1:4.
Think about that for a second. Papa God knew you.

This begs the question, what was it that God had in mind when he thought of you?  To answer that it is important for us to come back to our original intention that the Father created us with. Therein, we find the glory we were created for; there we can move towards our destiny. Like the eagle’s home is in the sky, you were created to live within the ocean of God’s love. Living in the fullness of who God created us to be is the place where we become fully alive in Jesus. Continue reading “True You”

WATER IT!

One of my favourite past-times is gardening. It is most fun when you plant a seed, water it, see it grow to become a plant ready for harvest.
Consider this verse. “I (Paul) planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6). This talks about the natural process of how the kingdom advances in a life, family, church, or region.

  • Planting – Someone has to plant a seed of truth, love, prayer, declaration, prophetic act, or obedience for there to be a future harvest of good things.
  • Watering – After the seed is planted, it will need to be “watered” by that person or others.
  • Supernatural increase – As it is watered, “God gives the increase.
  • Fruitfulness – Then there is a harvest of salvation, revival, healthy relationships, and freedom.
