HEAVENLY SOLUTIONS TO EARTHLY PROBLEMS

Have you ever been faced with a problem that feels impossible to solve? The kind that grieves your heart, brings worry to your mind, and leaves you lying awake as you think of all the ways there could be resolve?  I’d propose even with our best effort and intent we will not solve the world’s most pressing problems if we limit our thinking to earthly thoughts.

Further, I would propose that God uses the challenges in our lives to prepare us for our divine destiny! In the Kingdom of God ashes turn to beauty and takes our challenges and turns them to victories. The challenge is many Believers feel dismayed because they don’t realize the power they have access to. It is time to adjust our thinking, grab hold of our authority in Christ, and lean into the solution available to us as Believers.

What if problems became our faith builders and terrible situations increased our strength?  Continue reading “HEAVENLY SOLUTIONS TO EARTHLY PROBLEMS”

FINISHING STRONG

The battle isn’t over till it is over. We need to finish strong. We need to persevere to the end. This is not always easy. The passion that comes at the beginning of a fight can wane if the fight wears on. I believe David displayed three keys that helped make his fight with Goliath, as well as many of his future battles, strong to the end.

Preparation First, David came to the battle prepared. The development of David’s heart did not start on the day he met Goliath on the battlefield. It’s foolish to believe we can fight giants without having prepared ahead of time. Instead, as the apostle Paul says, “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training” (1 Cor. 9:25). Just as athletes prepare for competition well in advance of the event, so we ought to prepare ourselves spiritually before we face giants. Otherwise, we won’t be ready to fight the battle when we find ourselves on the front line. When the door of opportunity opens, it’s too late to prepare. Continue reading “FINISHING STRONG”

Problems are not our enemy

David in his battle with Goliath showed up and ran forward into the battle. Running forward takes a great deal of courage. If showing up to the battle is the first step of courage, running toward our giant is the second. Fear is one reason we we fail to engage in the battles that need to be fought.

Another reason why many of us lack the courage we need to run forward is our lack of perspective. We see the presence of problems in our lives as a negative. We allow them to discourage us and get in the way of our victories. That is exactly what the enemy intends. He wants to distract us from our destiny through these giants. Often, they are the reason why people don’t reach the fulfilment of their lifelong passions. Continue reading “Problems are not our enemy”

Bring the right weapons to the battle

David’s success in defeating Goliath with a sling and stones shows us the vital importance of bringing the right weapon to the battle. David knew his anointing and his ability. He rejected Saul’s weapons and chose the weapon he was skilled in using, recognizing the unique advantages—surprise and long-range accuracy—this weapon presented in this battle against the “unbeatable giant.” Because of this, David was able to succeed where everyone else would have failed. He was uniquely gifted to defeat his giant, and so are we.

To utilize our unique advantage like David did, we need to make sure we are using the right weapon for the battle. The way we choose to engage our giants is just as important as whether or not we choose to engage our giants. The wrong weapon may bring harm to us or those around us. It may be a hindrance when it is meant to be a help. Bring the right weapons. Continue reading “Bring the right weapons to the battle”

Walk your walk – God will ‘fit you out’ for the battle

King Saul, after listening to David’s stories of his previous victories over the lion and the bear, agreed to allow David to fight Goliath. We don’t know for sure whether he was fully convinced that David was the man for the job but David was his only volunteer. Regardless, we know Saul believed David—the shepherd boy dressed in a simple tunic and armed with only a sling—needed some help. He was not outfitted like a true warrior. According to earthly wisdom, someone who was going to face a warrior as fearsome and skilled as Goliath should be equipped with the best weapons and armor available. Saul was an experienced warrior, and he was applying that experience to the current situation. He knew David needed better armor and weapons, so he dressed him in his.
