Watering techniques

Every seed, every plant, needs to be watered (nurtured) if it’s to sprout, grow and bear fruit. How can we water the seeds in our lives, the lives of others and relationships? Here are some important watering techniques from Scripture that are listed in Steve Backlund’s blog.

  • Abiding in the word – “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’” (John 8:31-32).
  • Keep believing you have already received – “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24).

  • Thanksgiving – “ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
  • Meditation – “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper (Psalm 1:2-3).
  • Fellowship with others – “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
  • Good choices in relationships – “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20).
  • Faith declarations – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).
  • Keeping our heart soil good – “ Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful” (Mark 4:18-19).
  • Water others through generosity (e.g. encouragement) – “The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself” (Proverbs 11:25).

These things might help —> Regular church attendance – Committing to a small group – Have a teaching or worship music playing as you start your day and every time you start your car. Best of all ask God because He wants you to prosper.
