Watering techniques

Every seed, every plant, needs to be watered (nurtured) if it’s to sprout, grow and bear fruit. How can we water the seeds in our lives, the lives of others and relationships? Here are some important watering techniques from Scripture that are listed in Steve Backlund’s blog.

  • Abiding in the word – “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’” (John 8:31-32).
  • Keep believing you have already received – “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24).

PROTECTING OUR WORDS

Of course, believing in the power of our words is one thing. Actually changing the way we speak is another. Many of us have long-standing speech patterns that do not match our theology. Shad Helmstetter notes that behavioural research shows that as much as 77 percent of everything we think is negative or counterproductive. He also notes that children, on average, hear the word no 148,000 times before they reach the age of eighteen.
